"I talked (in the past) a little bit about how the continuity and the stability that we've had has really served us well. Ted and I stay in touch, we talk on a regular basis," Murphy added. "My hope is as long as he's healthy and continues to enjoy the job (and) is performing at a high level, he'll continue as our general manager."
"I think we all feel" proud, Thompson said when asked about the team having a long list of potential successors. "You hope you do a good job and you can teach other people how to do it even better, maybe."

Thompson is believed to be under contract through the 2019 NFL draft,Wholesale MLB Jerseys, and Packers president Mark Murphy gets frequent questions about his plans for when Thompson retires. GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Ted Thompson says he doesn't know how much longer he will work as the general manager for the Green Bay Packers.
NOTES: Players did not practice Wednesday as the team transitions from a morning to an early evening on-field schedule. Practice resumes on Thursday. ... Defensive coordinator Dom Capers said he hoped to have rookie CB Kevin King back "as quick as possible." King, the team's top draft pick this year as a second-rounder, watched practice on Wednesday without pads because of what appeared to be a minor shoulder injury.

Thompson joined Green Bay's personnel department in 1992, hired by then-GM Ron Wolf, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2015. Thompson helped Wolf rebuild the once-proud franchise into a consistent winner as part of the scouting staff. He has now been the GM almost four years longer than Wolf, who was in charge for nine full seasons before retiring after the 2001 draft.
The Packers have several in-house candidates who could step into Thompson's role, including director of football operations Eliot Wolf, director of player personnel Brian Gutekunst and vice president of football administration Russ Ball. Three former Thompson lieutenants either are or have been general managers with other NFL teams: Seattle's John Schneider, Oakland's Reggie McKenzie and ex-Kansas City GM John Dorsey.
The 64-year-old Thompson, who spent 10 years in the NFL as a player and has been the Packers' GM since 2005, said he has no desire to slow down as he enters his 13th season in charge of the team's football operations.
Asked how long he would like to keep working, Thompson said: "I don't know. We'll see. Stay tuned." Asked if he knows how much longer he would like to work and just doesn't want to say so publicly, Thompson replied: "I don't constantly evaluate it, and I don't know."
"I think I'm good to go," Thompson said Wednesday at Lambeau Field. "I think sometimes as you get older and having played — not that playing football is harmful to you — there are a few places where I limp a little more than I used to and that sort of thing. But otherwise, I feel good."
Thompson holds press conferences just a few times a year: the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis in February,Patriots Jersey Liii Jersey; the NFL meetings each March,Cheap Shoes Uk Wholesale; before and during the NFL draft each spring; and training camp.
